From first import
to final export.
This guide follows the desktop workspace. Start with an existing video.
Install and sign in
Select an installer on the Download page. Sign in with Google or create an email account. For a source build, follow the repository README. Run the account service and desktop app before you sign in.
In Settings, select a local Whisper model file to enable speech analysis and voice instructions. Use a model that fits your available memory.
Create a project
- Select New project.
- Enter a project name and select one or more videos.
- Choose a parent folder with enough free space.
- Create the project. Video copies the originals into its managed folder and creates playback media.
Use Media → Import media to add more video, images, music, or sound effects. Add an imported asset to the timeline at the playhead.
Make an edit
Select a clip or a time range. Enter an instruction in the command field. Direct mode applies clear local operations. Plan mode shows the operations and affected range before you apply them.
Use the Inspector for exact timing, speed, crop, scale, position, opacity, audio level, fades, and color. Track controls can mute, hide, or lock a track. Locked tracks reject edit operations.
Transcripts and captions
Open Media and select Analyze. Analysis runs on your computer. Open Transcript to select words and jump to the matching time. Use Shift to extend the selection. Enter “Add captions” to create a caption track, or “Remove pauses” to cut detected silence.
Check the transcript before you use it. Speech recognition can miss words, names, accents, and speech in background noise.
Track a subject
- Select a video clip and the time range.
- Draw a box around the subject in the viewer.
- Select Track selection.
- Open Subjects and select the saved track.
- Enter “Zoom into me here” or “Keep me centered”. Review the result.
Tracks can lose a subject after fast motion, a scene cut, or an obstruction. Inspect the result before export.
Privacy and cloud tasks
Choose Standard, Private Media, or Fully Local in Settings. Fully Local blocks project content from cloud tools. Private Media permits text context but blocks raw media uploads.
For a cloud request, review the maximum credit cost and data scope. Select Approve and create plan to start the task. A remote plan requires a second review before it changes the timeline.
Preview and export
Select a short range and choose Render preview to check effects. Select Export for a complete video. Choose the output dimensions, frame rate, quality, and destination. The export reads the original media. Your current entitlement controls the export limit and watermark.
Keep Video open until the task completes. Use Tasks to check progress or cancel the render.
Save and recover
Each completed edit is saved to the project database. Undo and redo survive a project restart. Do not remove or rename files inside the managed project folder.
Use Package project to save a portable .videoproject archive. Import the package to a new folder on another device. Keep a separate backup of important project files.
